Privacy Policy
Last updated September 20, 2026
Ikigai is a personal productivity tool, and this policy describes what information we collect to run it, why, and what we don’t do with it. Short version: we collect what’s needed to provide the service, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t run advertising or analytics trackers.
1. Information you give us
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your name and email address;
- A securely hashed version of your password (we never store it in plain text) — not applicable if you sign in with Google instead;
- If you use “Continue with Google,” the basic profile information Google shares with us to create your account (name, email address).
Everything you create while using Ikigai — tasks, projects, milestones, time entries, habits, labels, notes, and your planning and capacity settings — is also stored so the product can show it back to you. This content is yours; it’s a personal workspace, and nothing you enter is visible to any other Ikigai user.
2. Information collected automatically
Ikigai sets two cookies:
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It’s
httpOnly(not readable by page scripts) and is necessary for the service to work — there’s no way to use Ikigai signed in without it. - A preference cookie that remembers whether you’ve chosen light or dark mode.
A couple of interface preferences (like which task view you last used) are stored in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
We don’t use advertising cookies, third-party analytics scripts, or any cross-site tracking. There’s nothing on this site or in the app watching what you do for marketing purposes.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure your account and the data in it;
- Send you account-related email, such as verifying your address or a password reset;
- Send reminders or notifications you’ve explicitly set up inside the product, if and when that feature is available to you;
- Respond to you if you contact us for support.
4. What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information or your content to anyone, ever.
- We don’t share your content with other users — there’s no team or shared-workspace feature for it to appear in.
- We don’t use your data to train models or share it with data brokers.
5. Third-party services
A small number of services help us operate Ikigai, each only for the narrow purpose described:
- Google — if you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in, Google shares your basic profile information with us as described above.
- Push notifications — if you enable them, notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google), which needs a device token to know where to send them.
- Email delivery — account-related emails (verification, password reset) are sent through a transactional email provider.
None of these services receive your task, project, or time-tracking content.
6. Data storage and security
Your information is stored on servers we operate and is protected with reasonable technical and organizational measures. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we don’t treat that as an excuse — access to production data is limited, and passwords are never stored in a recoverable form.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you’d like your account and everything in it deleted, contact us at the address below and we’ll take care of it.
8. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us and we’ll respond promptly.
9. Children
Ikigai isn’t directed at, and we don’t knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we’ll make a reasonable effort to let you know before it takes effect.
